Our journey to paradise begins in Delhi. We start our road trip at 6:30 PM, reaching Manali early in the morning. Upon arrival, we check into our hotels, freshen up, and relax. After a hearty breakfast, we set out for local sightseeing in Manali, visiting the Hidimba Temple, Jogini Waterfall, Vashisht Temple, and the famous Mall Road. On day two, after breakfast and hotel checkout, we embark on the adventurous Leh-Manali Highway. This scenic route winds through the snow-capped peaks of the western Himalayas. Our first stop is Rohtang Pass, followed by Lahaul Valley, where we travel alongside the Chandra River, passing through Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti.
Continuing on the highway, we cross Darcha, Patsio, and Zingzing Bar before reaching the challenging Baralacha-La Pass. This high-altitude pass offers breathtaking panoramic views, making us feel as if we’re touching the sky.
By late evening, we arrive at Suraj Tal, a serene lake nestled amidst snow-covered peaks and the source of the Bhaga River. After a short break, we descend through Killing Sarai to Sarchu, where we camp under a starlit sky for the night.
After a hot and delicious breakfast at the campsite, we set off for our ultimate destination—Leh. Our journey begins with the thrilling Gata Loops, a series of 21 hairpin bends that test our endurance. We then cross Nakee-La Pass and continue toward Lachung-La, situated just above the Brandy Bridge.
A quick lunch break at Pang rejuvenates us before we traverse the vast Moore Plains—30 km of perfectly straight roads surrounded by stunning landscapes. Along the way, we might spot colonies of marmots and wild herds of Kiang (Tibetan wild ass).
Next, we conquer Tanglang-La (5,328 m), the second-highest motorable road in the world. From here, the journey continues through Upshi and Karu before we finally reach Leh. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and relax, preparing for the adventures that await the next day.
On the fourth day of our journey, we set out to explore the fascinating local attractions of Leh after breakfast. Our itinerary includes:
In the evening, we have free time for leisure and acclimatization. You can explore Leh’s vibrant local markets and visit popular cafés to experience the unique culture. After an eventful day, we return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
